No true explanation for this story has been found yet. Over 2,000 years ago when Plato told the story, almost instantly everyone was searching for answers. The mystery of The Lost City of Atlantis started right whenever Plato told the story about this city. Is the story true? Did the city of Atlantis really sink into the depths of the ocean? If so, where did it go? It disappeared forever into the dark blue sea. In one day and a night of disaster, the whole island sank into the sea. ![]() Plato stated that their were floods, violent earthquakes, and destruction. They chose to attack the ancient city of Athens in Greece, but the Greeks managed to beat back the attack, and Atlantis was punished greatly by the gods for their greed. But as the story continues, being powerful and rich wasn't enough for the greedy people of Atlantis. They were very powerful and very rich, and they used their powerful navy to control most of the world. According to Plato the people of Atlantis lived over 11,000 years ago.
